Use Plug to Discover and Network with People Near You

January 9, 2012

Could you benefit professionally or personally from knowing more people in your area?  People with similar interests near you want to know you as well!  You can discover interesting people in your area on the Plug home page and within Plug event listings.  View their Plug profiles to see their bio, interests, work history, education history and more…

We’ve just enhanced Plug profiles to help you research and engage people more effectively.  We now have an “Ask Me About” section, where you can see topics people are knowledgeable about and like to discuss.  In the new “Interesting Fact” section, you can list something you want others to know about you.  Here is what the main profile section looks like:

Also, the new “Mutual Connections” section lets you know which contacts you have in common with others on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter:

These new profile sections not only help you decide who to engage, but they also serve as icebreakers to help you start conversations.

When you find interesting people on Plug, you can send them a secure, private message, without revealing your e-mail address.  You can request a meeting at a specific time and place.  You can also join people at upcoming events they are attending, which are shown in the “Meet…At” section:

When you check in or register for an event on Plug, you gain access to more exciting online features to engage other attendees.  See which attendees you already know so you can catch up with them at the event.  Broadcast what you’re offering and what you need on the event conversation “Wall.”  Share event happenings and opinions just with event participants or also with your social networks.  Get automatically matched with new people you have things in common with, based on your Plug profile and your social connections.  Plug ranks the most relevant people for you.  In addition, you can search attendee profiles by keyword, to find exactly what you need.

For Plug-enabled events, you don’t even need business cards.  Just “Connect” with the people you meet to share your digital business card via Plug.  Once they accept, you can also invite them to connect on LinkedIn with one click!

Plug helps you build relationships by meeting relevant people in person and keeping in touch after the event or meeting has ended.  Welcome to real-life networking 2.0!  Plug in today at www.GetPlug.com.

Most of these new enhancements will roll out to the Plug iPhone, Android and HTML5 Apps by the end of February.
